Tesla's marketing mix - Product

Tesla is now one of the most valued auto makers in the world with net worth over $60 billion. Their goal is to influence people to switch to fully electric cars, as they believe that is the future since these cars are not polluting and not creating emissions.

Tesla was founded in 2003 by Marting Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning. Tesla design sustainable systems that are massively scalable, they aim to result in the greatest environmental benefit possible.

Tesla is incorporated company and their shares now start on $190.

With over 100 000 employees Tesla design, build, sell and service their products in-house.

Tesla uses manufacturing system, that way their products are made by real people alongside robots. They have over seven factories all over the world. One on the biggest ones, and also first one, is in Fremont, California where 400 cars are made a day buy 3000 workers and 160 robots. In this factory they produce all of their car modules. An example of other large factory is Gigafactory in Nevada where they focus on plants for electric motors, batteries and powertrains.

Tesla aim to produces more than a million vehicles every year, in addition to energy products, battery cells and more.

Tesla now offers four car models – Model S, Model 3, Model X and Model Y.

First electric car they have produced was Tesla Roadster, which is now discontinued. Roadster was first ever electric car to use lithium-ion battery cells and the first production all0electric car to travel more than 200miles per charge. This car was also first car ever to be launched into space.

Their second electric car was produced in 2012, this car was the first electric vehicle to top the monthly sales ranking in any country by September 2013.

After producing their sedan they have invented a mid-size crossover SUV Model X. It is offered in 5 to 7 passenger configurations.

Model 3 is a four door fastback sedan produced since 2016. Since March 2020, the model 3 is the world’s best selling electric car in history. In June 2021 they’ve sold over one million models.

Model Y also has up to 7 seats and it is compact utility vehicle.

Tesla is also planning to produce Roadster second generation with range of 620 miles. They are also promising to produce Tesla Semi – semi-trailer truck. This truck will have four independent electric motors, same ones were used in Model 3. Other product Tesla has in plan is Cybertruck – a pick up truck.

Tesla does not only produce cars but also energy products. They offer different varieties of solar energy systems and battery energy storage products.

Tesla also offers charging stations all over the world.

Their car range between $80 000 and $120 000. That makes Tesla’s products not affordable for everyone but their mindset is definitely futuristic and with focus on sustainability.

In conclusion Tesla’s products are definitely products of the future and it is fascinating to see their CEO Elon Musk make this all work with his brilliant mind.
